Bamboo and Roses Custom Jewelry

The Journey

The journey that led to the opening of Bamboo and Roses Custom Jewelry began in 2012 when my husband and I first set foot in our current home in Chilliwack, British Columbia.  This 1930‘s home was charming and unique with a garden that was overflowing with lush vegetation, lovingly designed and cultivated by the previous owner. The garden included dozens of varieties of roses, clematises, magnolias and bamboo plants along with a banana plant, a silk tree and a 60 foot tall monkey puzzle tree.

While the garden was amazing, the house interior did not match its surroundings when we bought. In order to get the house ready to live in, we had to roll up our sleeves and design and renovate every room in the house.  It took us a year and a half and involved much creative planning and designing. We felt a strong responsibility to match the inside of the home to the inspirational surroundings.

About Me

What I discovered about myself during the process of renovation is that I feel the most fulfilled when I am engaged in artistic endeavors.  I rediscovered how much I love to make beautiful and expressive objects with a practical purpose.  I had dabbled in beading as a hobby for many years but had never considered taking it to the next level.

In 2015, I started to take courses to develop my beading skills which opened up a whole new world of possiblities.  With new skills and new supplies in hand, I started to get serious about jewelry making.

Since 2015, I have worked at honing my skills and developing designs that express a little bit of who I am.  I love working with colourful glass beads, stones, chains and wire to produce one-of-a-kind accessories.

It is my sincere hope that my designs will help to inspire my customers’ own creative journeys.
